Dear Friends,
I hope you and your family have been enjoying the month of July.
Earlier this month, low- and modest-income Canadians and families received their new, one-time Grocery Rebate. This targeted inflation relief will provide up to an extra $467 for families of four; up to an average of $225 for seniors; and up to $234 for single Canadians by direct deposit or cheque through the Canada Revenue Agency. With the Grocery Rebate, the Canadian government is continuing to provide support to the Canadians who need it most.
On June 22nd, 2023, Bill C-22, the Canada Disability Benefit Act, received royal assent, creating the Canada Disability Benefit. The Canada Disability Benefit will provide low-income working-age persons with disabilities with a monthly federal income supplement, lifting hundreds of thousands of Canadians out of poverty. This is another major milestone in the Federal government’s commitment to create a barrier-free Canada by 2040 and is a cornerstone of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
On July 11th, Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims in Scarborough - Guildwood, Canada and around the world celebrated Imamat Day. This day marks the anniversary of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV becoming the 49th hereditary Imam and spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Khushiali Mubarak!
Although Parliament is out-of-session, my constituency office is always available to assist you with federal issues.
Finally, I wish you and your family a very enjoyable and restful summer.

The Federal government is taking action to prevent hate-motivated crime and keep our community gathering spaces safe.
That is why on June 28th, 2023, Minister Mendicino launched the Security Infrastructure Program (SIP) 2023 Call for Applications. This round will allocate $5 million in funding, and will accept applications until August 31, 2023. SIP funds up to 50% of the cost of security equipment up to a maximum of $100,000 per project.
Organizations can apply directly on Public Safety Canada’s website: Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP).
