Dear Friends,
Eid Mubarak!
I wish our Muslim friends and neighbours across Scarborough and the country a warm & happy Eid-Al-Fitr. I know many of you have celebrated differently but I hope you were able to find a sense of connection with community during your celebration. One way we can celebrate this year is through commemorative stamps.
University of Toronto Professor Anver Emon helped design this Canadian tribute to Islam’s most important holidays. Professor Emon says:
“I think this stamp is a beautiful testament to the way in which Canada tries to position itself with diversity. It’s small, both physically and as a gesture, but I think it also speaks volumes. It's an act of speech that I think we can all benefit from hearing these days.”
A total of 1.3 million stamps began circulating on April 24 to commemorate the start of Ramadan. Learn more about this initiative here
