Dear Friends,
This weekend, people across Canada and the world will be celebrating Easter.
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind” — 2 Timothy 1:7.
COVID-19 does create a spirit of fear in some, however Easter marks the triumph of hope over fear and life over death. Easter is the holiest day in the Christian calendar and it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his triumph over death. In normal times, Christians celebrate this triumph by getting together for worship and meals.
This year, however, Christians will celebrate differently by reflecting on the Easter themes of sacrifice, hope, and compassion in self-isolation. We might be self-isolating, but we are not alone.
For those of you who celebrate, I and my family wish you and your family a joyful and blessed Easter.
This Easter, please continue to practice social distancing, hand washing, and listen to the advice provided by public health officials. For further questions and the most up-to-date information on COVID-19, please refer to Canada.ca/coronavirus or call 1-833-784-4397.
